This is the result of an artistic research in de Onlanden Natural Preserve (Drenthe, NL). A voice and nothing more is a film in four chapters filmed through binoculars and narrated by an AI voice trained from the character Scuttle (a seagull in The Little Mermaid). The video work combines diverse material: from conversations in de Onlanden with passer-by’s and volunteers, to literature about bird migration apps and military radars, to interventions of two opera singers in the landscape, and a fictional TV talent show in a dystopian future where birds are the start performers.
This was a commission by Into Nature, Drenthe.

The title is borrowed from Mladen Dollar book A Voice and Nothing More, published in 2006 by MIT Press.
